Excitingly, it’s theme time again with Leanne Cole’s Monochrome Madness. This month it’s water, which is great for me as my two go-to places for practising photography are a massive river, the Han, and a smaller river or stream, the Cheonggyecheon. I went out a couple of weekends ago on a blazing hot afternoon and took a stroll along riverfront on the island of  (Yeoido). That area of the Hangang park is particularly well-developed and popular with couples hiring tandems to ride along the bike path, families pitching tents and spending the afternoon over a picnic, and the masses of joggers and cyclists who spill from the subway stations every weekend to fill the park.

Just past Mapo bridge there is an area of fountains and shallow pools which run from the main road all the way down to the river. Anyone who’s seen the latest Avengers: Age of Ultron film might recognise it from the swooping aerial chase scene through Seoul. I was actually focused on the lines of the bridges along the river when I noticed these children splashing about to one side, and it made for a much more interesting shot.
